Mahuika House operates as the base for Healing and Rape Crisis.
Healing and Rape Crisis Te Awamutu is here to offer support to survivors of any kind of sexual abuse, assault or rape. Here at Te Awamutu Rape Crisis we are not trained counsellors, and we see this a benefit. Rather, we are trained in the service of advocacy for women, so instead of receiving professional help from us, we can assist in that crisis period – that point of time where perhaps you are unsure about what you want to do next – if anything.
We can help you work through accomodation issues if need be, or attend doctors appoinmtments, or WINZ appointments, therapy appointments, anything. We can be there to help you sort through all the initial chaos – as women, helping women
The house is also open as a ‘Drop-In’ centre for women to discuss personal or family problems they wish to resolve.
