Description:
Puāwaitanga means to blossom, to flourish, to break through, and is a phone and virtual counselling service to support people in Aotearoa to improve their emotional wellbeing – their hauora. The service is an alternative to face to face counselling for people who are struggling but face challenges in accessing traditional counselling.
Puāwaitanga is a brief intervention counselling service with most people completing 3-5 sessions on average. These sessions are funded for those who are eligible under our current partnerships (see below for list)

To self-refer, you can email support@puawaitanga.nz or call us on 0800 782 999 (Monday to Friday, between 9:30am and 6pm).
We will then support you to book a session with a counsellor of your choice from our team. All of our clinicians are registered professionals.
In your first appointment you will talk with the counsellor about what you would like to achieve, come up with plan on how to achieve these and discuss how many sessions you may need to attend do this.
Over the course of the sessions, you and your counsellor will work together to identify strategies to achieve your goals and improve your wellbeing.
